Induction of mucosal immunity in the genital tract of women

Sammanfattning av projektet

Projektet syftar till att öka kunskaperna om hur man inducerar starka immunsvar på slemhinnorna i genitalområdet hos kvinnor för att kunna bestämma bästa möjliga immuniseringsbetingelser vid vaccination.

Arbetsplan: Våra tidigare studier har visat att vaginal vaccination är det optimala administrationssättet för induktion av B-cellssvar i genitalområdet. Metodik har utvecklats som nu gör det möjligt att också analysera och karakterisera T-cellssvar på systemnivå och lokal slemhinnenivå i genitalområdet. En jämförelse av T-och B-cellssvar på individnivå kommer att göras efter olika typer av slemhinnevaccination. Vi avser också att utvärdera om vaginal vaccination ger upphov till ett immunologiskt långtidsminne i genitalslemhinnan samt om man kan förstärka immunsvaren i genitalområdet genom att lokalbehandla slemhinnan med östrogen inför vaginal vaccination. Möjligheten att använda transkutan vaccination som en alternativ administrationsväg för induktion av genital immunitet kommer också att studeras.
