1. Översiktlig projektbeskrivning
Engelsk titel
Physical exercise therapy increases range of motion and reduces pain in diabetes mellitus type 1 patients with shoulder painSammanfattning av projektet
Inlagda MeSH-termer- Diabetes Mellitus, Type 1
- A subtype of DIABETES MELLITUS that is characterized by INSULIN deficiency. It is manifested by the sudden onset of severe HYPERGLYCEMIA, rapid progression to DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS, and DEATH unless treated with insulin. The disease may occur at any age, but is most common in childhood or adolescence.
- Shoulder Pain
- Unilateral or bilateral pain of the shoulder. It is often caused by physical activities such as work or sports participation, but may also be pathologic in origin.
- Therapeutic Human Experimentation
- Human experimentation that is intended to benefit the subjects on whom it is performed.
- Nutritional and Metabolic Diseases
- A collective term for nutritional disorders resulting from poor absorption or nutritional imbalance, and metabolic disorders resulting from defects in biosynthesis (ANABOLISM) or breakdown (CATABOLISM) of endogenous substances.
- Metabolic Diseases
- Generic term for diseases caused by an abnormal metabolic process. It can be congenital due to inherited enzyme abnormality (METABOLISM, INBORN ERRORS) or acquired due to disease of an endocrine organ or failure of a metabolically important organ such as the liver. (Stedman, 26th ed)
- Glucose Metabolism Disorders
- Pathological conditions in which the BLOOD GLUCOSE cannot be maintained within the normal range, such as in HYPOGLYCEMIA and HYPERGLYCEMIA. Etiology of these disorders varies. Plasma glucose concentration is critical to survival for it is the predominant fuel for the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM.
- Diabetes Mellitus
- A heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by HYPERGLYCEMIA and GLUCOSE INTOLERANCE.
- Endocrine System Diseases
- Pathological processes of the ENDOCRINE GLANDS, and diseases resulting from abnormal level of available HORMONES.
- Immune System Diseases
- Disorders caused by abnormal or absent immunologic mechanisms, whether humoral, cell-mediated, or both.
- Autoimmune Diseases
- Disorders that are characterized by the production of antibodies that react with host tissues or immune effector cells that are autoreactive to endogenous peptides.
- Pain
- An unpleasant sensation induced by noxious stimuli and generally received by specialized nerve endings.
- Arthralgia
- Pain in the joint.
- Musculoskeletal Diseases
- Diseases of the muscles and their associated ligaments and other connective tissue and of the bones and cartilage viewed collectively.
- Rehabilitation
- Restoration of human functions to the maximum degree possible in a person or persons suffering from disease or injury.
- Physical Medicine
- A medical specialty concerned with the use of physical agents, mechanical apparatus, and manipulation in rehabilitating physically diseased or injured patients.
- Medicine
- The art and science of preventing, diagnosing, and treating disease, as well as the maintenance of health.
