Det är numera vanligt att personer i vuxen ålder får besked av läkare att de har celiaki och måste leva glutenfritt resten av livet.
Att leva glutenfritt innebär att utesluta all mat som innehåller vete, råg och korn.
Att börja äta glutenfri mat kan därför medföra en del problem men det lyckas de flesta klara nästan omgående med hjälp av dietister och andra i vården.
På sikt uppkommer dock en del problem i det dagliga livet som tycks drabba främst kvinnor trots att de lever helt glutenfritt.
Det är bakgrunden till Celiakiskolan.
Den har startat på flera orter i Småland och Östergötland. Syftet är att ge deltagarna sådana kunskaper och färdigheter att de efter Skolan upplever ett bättre välbefinnande och mindre tarmbesvär än innan.
Resultaten kan leda till ett bättre långsiktigt omhändertagande av ungdomar och vuxna med celiaki. De första resultaten väntas under 2010.
